"For four months we have studied music. Now you make it – in front of a room that is listening. Welcome to the last chapter."
"Por cuatro meses estudiamos la música. Ahora la haces – frente a una sala que está escuchando. Bienvenido al último capítulo."
Unit 6 = performance posture. Today we wake the voice and the breath up – we are going to need them.
In through the nose for 4. Hold for 2. Out on a long hiss for 8. Twice. Hand on belly – feel it move.
75 secSlide from your lowest comfortable note up to your highest, then back down. On the vowel "oo." Twice. Don't strain.
90 secStanding, shoulders loose. Bounce knees on a steady "1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &" pulse. Count out loud. Twice through.
75 secI can name what Unit 6 is asking of me — perform, record, and present my own social-commentary work — and I can say out loud the form my Capstone will take: rap, sung, poem, beat, or movement.
Unit 3 you studied the business of music. Unit 4 you built beats. Unit 5 you wrote and named social-commentary. Unit 6 is when the lights come on. Over the next six weeks you will (1) finish the social-commentary piece you started in Unit 5, (2) record it on Soundtrap (your accounts are live again – tomorrow), (3) perform it for a cross-period showcase, and (4) peer-review two classmates' work. The doing IS the grade. No test.
You told me on the L40/L41 survey: "We are doing a lot of writing instead of more music." Heard. Unit 6 is built around what you asked for — moving, singing, playing, recording, presenting. Writing only when it serves the music.
Some of you took the Unit 5 Assessment on Wednesday. Two of you haven't yet. Both happen at the same time today, in the same room, with respect.
If you took the Unit 5 Assessment Wednesday, you are with me at the front of the room. We move into:
You'll need a Chromebook for the Kahoot. Headphones not required.
If you did not take the Unit 5 Assessment on Wednesday, you go to the back-corner desk.
When done: flip the paper, return to your seat, you'll join us in the Kahoot or pick up Chromebook MP2 makeup — your call.
P4 + P6 are still finishing the assessment today – this two-track is for P2 + P5 only.

GRADE = PARTICIPATION. Hand-up to vote on every question. Top 3 hands-up streaks get a shout-out. Top score is not the grade.
La nota es por participación. Levanta la mano en cada pregunta.
"If I'm on stage in 4 weeks, I'm doing ____. The Unit 5 lyric or idea I'm bringing forward is ____. Why? ____."
Pick a form. Just one — you can change later. Then say WHY out loud. Your partner just listens. Then switch. Take a full 3 minutes each. Don't rush. Don't fill silence with jokes. Let your partner think.
Pair up. Decide who is A and who is B.
A pitches. B listens. No interrupting.
Switch. B pitches. A listens.
Two pairs share what their partner said.
Not sure yet? That's fine. Pick the one that scares you the least. You can pivot Friday. The point of today is to say it OUT LOUD.
¿Inseguro? Bien.
I warmed up with the class today.
Hice el calentamiento con la clase hoy.

My Capstone idea today is…
Starter: "I'm leaning toward ____ because ____."
You warmed up. You voted. You pitched a Capstone. That is enough for one day. Tomorrow we add the next piece – not all of it. One piece.
Friday • L47 — Soundtrap Is Back. Your accounts are live again. We pick up the Unit 5 recording we couldn't do. Bring your Chromebook, your lyric, and the form you pitched today.
MP2 makeup deadline is also tomorrow. Submissions close Friday at the end of the day – check Google Classroom tonight.
